About

My metal sculpture is inspired by the natural world and our connection to it: patterns and variations of the plants, stone, sunlight, and water. Starting from a general sketch, I let the piece evolve organically as I work. Geometric patterns in tension emerge as I incorporate smaller bits of material into the large piece, rather than being designed in from the start. Pieces offer different flows that engage you as you decide which visual path to take through the piece.

My landscape sculpture pieces interact with the wind and the rain. I encourage clients to rearrange elements of the pieces and become part of a dynamic an ongoing creative process.

About 15 years ago, I started making pieces for family and friends. Recently retired from a long career in technology, metalworking has become a larger part of my life now and so has making my work available to a broader audience. I’ve studied at Fire Arts and the Chicago Industrial Arts and Design Center artist collectives and the Art Institute of Chicago Ox-Bow campus.

I’ve converted my barn on the Kalamazoo river into a studio near Saugatuck and Douglas Michigan which is open by appointment.
